Beneath the Mirror’s Quiet Glaze
Beneath the mirror's quiet glaze,
The koi convene in gilded maze—
Their fins, like fleeting flames, do weave,
Through shadows soft as dusk’s reprieve.
The pond, a chapel—still, profound,
Where ripples hymn without a sound;
Each dart and turn, a quiet rite,
A fleeting prayer to fleeting light.
Do they, in golden arcs, aspire
To touch the sky’s cerulean fire?
Or know they not the bounds they keep,
Content in depths both dark and deep?
Their world, an emerald-stippled sphere,
Where time dissolves and truth is clear;
Oh, such a lesson we might find,
In koi that drift—unbound, aligned.
